Day 8: @santicarneri for @burndiary In Paraguay 85% arable land is owned by less than 3% of the population, the landowners produce cattle and transgenic soybean, commodities exported by millions of dollars on the international market, mainly to Russia, China and Europe. However, there is insufficient production of basic foods such as tomatoes, onions and fruit.Almost half of the population of this South American country is rural, but the lack of roads, electricity and acces to water make imposible for them to sell their products in the markets of Asuncion and other large cities. In the picture a girl takes care of her father goods that he smuggled from Argentina to sell on the street of downtown Asuncion: coffee, oil, fruits and other products that in the markets of Paraguay are much more expensive.#Asuncentro #photodiary #Asuncion #Paraguay #Southamerica #Everydaylatinamerica #everydayeverywhere
