We welcomed Bill Kotsatos as an observing traveling workshop student and now totally integrated into our wild ride. He meets us here outside a bar where I shot for two nights, right next to our Ocean Beach classic motel, where we treated ourselves to two nights of luxury :) in San Francisco. We wanted to test bringing in a person we did not know as a student. So far it has been sweet. Bill is a big help. Of course now the boy is under pressure. He must, as his project, present to this audience his work over a three to four day period. Well, Bill, sometimes you get what you asked for. We are all waiting. Welcome.

Hi there, Bill! Curious to see your take :)
EVA
i have had students who take my normal one week shooting class and then became good enough friends with me to the point where i invited them to come with me on a real shooting assignment…all report they got more out of shooting side by side with me than they did in the shooting class where they were doing their own essay…in this case, Bill gets the best of both worlds…he is seeing the foibles of on the road shooting, how i work etc and also shooting his own essay…he signed up for three days with us, but we like him so much that he ends up staying with us for five days….i looked at some of his work last night, and i think he will end up with a nice travel essay….let’s see
cheers, david
Lookig forward that Bill´s essay!
Hey Bill!
No pressure…ALL eyes are on YOU ;-)
This shot puts all those words you wrote David in the image. Awesome!
DAVE,
Not sure what heading to put this under, but just just looking through my new copy of Sternfeld’s American Prospects and this picture made me think of you guys. I remember learning a while back that it was this photo (or more specifically, the van parked in the bottom left, very similar to yours) that inspired Alec Soth to make his cross country trip. Cool connectivity. thought you guys would enjoy…
Big Hug,
Jordan
